Wow, time has been flying lately! We have so many things to announce that I decided to grab them all together and write something about our last, but not least, activities in March. Hope that you will enjoy them as much as we are.
One of our goals for 2015 was to split our work between development and performing trainings & presentations. To find a way (and time!) to get off from computers and meet some like-minded people and spread our love to programming with them. This goal for the moment is realised really well and we hope that it will be continued in the rest of the year.
TechKlub Białystok #9
We started from TechKlub Białystok #9 event, which took place on March 4. I talked about editors benefits of using Umbraco CMS over other available content management systems on the market and Pawel was talking about Social Media and tools that can help companies to be present in that area of the Internet.

TechKlubs are the events for NGOs representatives so we focused on non-technical knowledge as much as we were able to 🙂 It was quite a good time spent with people with people with very different kind of interests. We had a lot of positive feedback from organisers and audience, so we hope that we helped for some people to find a way to explore the Internet and Social Media or to get to know with different ways of achieving this.
Białystok .NET User Group
The next step on our road of trainings in March was the 49th Białystok .NET User Group meetup. Once again we were talking about Umbraco CMS, but this time from totally different, more technical, perspective. We showed how to build simple solution based on Umbraco and how easily extend it with some custom features using Visual Studio and / or Microsoft WebMatrix.
Big thanks to the organisers and community there. The contents of the bottles dressed in a sweaters tasted really great 🙂 It was nice to meet some old friends from studies and previous work also!
SICC + Microsoft Poland + Umbraco = ?
March was also full of new business contacts and opportunities. We are extremely proud that we can announce that we are now officially cooperating with Microsoft Poland in case of expanding Umbraco CMS (which is of course build on Microsoft .NET technology) knowledge and community in Poland.
Microsoft Poland really wants to help us to grow strong and qualified community in Poland. One of the first results of our partnership will be the video programming course recorded for Microsoft Virtual Academy titled: “Creating a web-based solutions using Umbraco CMS – basic course”.
The course will be probably available in the end of this week, so we are looking forward to it eagerly and of course we will share it here! 🙂 Course was recorded in Polish according to lack of Umbraco materials in our native language. It was our first official performance in front of the cameras and we were really chilled out until we started recording… However, thanks to the “magic of television”, the whole work came out very well and certainly it will serve many people as an excellent introduction to creating web-based solutions using Umbraco as a base. Hope that we will have more opportunities to perform in front of cameras and real users in the nearest future. Stay tuned!
Train the Trainers session at Microsoft Poland
At the end of the month we performed one more training session. The most technical and the most promising for the future from our perspective. On the sunny Saturday March 21, thanks once again to Microsoft Poland, we and about 50 .NET community leaders from across the Poland had a great day performing Umbraco “Train the Trainers” session. We were very amazed by the commitment and engagement of the audience. Whole day was very productive and full of interesting cases, code blocks and, of course, pizza!
Our main goal was to reach as many .NET developers as we can and let them just know that Umbraco exists. Our faith is now in the hands of .NET group leaders who attended this training. We hope that they will spread the Umbraco love in their local groups and at the next presentation, no matter of the city in Poland, I will see more raised hands when I will ask who knows about Umbraco 🙂
As you all can see, we are not wasting our time here and we are still alive. And that was only about March… There were one more event at the start of the April, but this is a topic for another blog post. Stay tuned and read our blog, we have (and will have) more to share, say and offer! 🙂
